The Tough Side of Tenders

Published April 17th, 2016 by Bernardo

Aluminum has long been the boat hull material of choice in many parts of the world due to its strength, ease of repair, versatility and above all its weight saving characteristics. So it’s only natural that the evolution of tenders would find a place in the world with aluminum hulls. Highfield inflatables have evolved from many years of development in some of the toughest conditions in the world, the Great Barrier Reef of tropical Northern Australia. They are a direct descendant of the Australian Swift range of aluminum hulled RIBs.

The Highfield aluminum hulls bring strength and light weight to the boats. As a consequence, the boats require less horse power to propel them which means smaller outboard engine for same propulsion, lower fuel consumption and less CO2 emission.

When producing these boats, Highfield use processes that are non-polluting and conserve energy and natural resources, making it economically sound and safe for employees, communities and consumers. They make an effort to choose the right materials not only to build the Highfield boats tough and durable but also to make them environmentally friendly. Aluminum recycling is the process by which scrap aluminum can be reused in products after its initial production. The process involves simply re-melting the metal, which is far less expensive and energy intensive than creating new aluminum. Recycling scrap aluminum requires only 5% of the energy used to make new aluminum. The nature of aluminum makes the material one of the few “infinitely recyclable” materials used in society; it can be recycled infinitely with no loss in quality. Because aluminum won’t soak up water, a Highfield will weigh the same in 10 years as it did the day it left the showroom.

Every Highfield boat is rigorously tested to strict ISO standards before leaving the factory. This comprehensive testing of all component parts during manufacture, and their 2-year structural warranty on all boats, means one can have complete confidence in a Highfield RIB. Tough, reliable and thoroughly tested, Highfield comes with a champions pedigree.
