Ocean Kayak was born in 1971 by necessity. In need of a way to store scuba equipment while on his surfboard, Ocean Kayak Founder Tim Niemier, carved out two places, one for him to sit and the other to store his dive gear. Mr. Niemier is credited with introducing the sit-on-top kayak design that water lovers all around the world use today. Ocean Kayak is also recognized as one of the largest sit on top kayak manufacturers, selling tens of thousands of kayaks all over the world.

Founded in 1976, out of a passion for wind and water, Mistral turned windsurfing into an international sport. In 2008 with their knowledge and success with windsurfing boards, they expanded their product line to include stand up paddle boards. Recently the NMMA, National Marine Manufacturers Association, reported that the US boating industry, is seeing the highest sales in nearly a decade. Sales of yachts (33’ and higher) saw gains of 3.5 percent, reaching a seven-year high of 1,715 units in 2016. BOAT International reported over 100 sales of yachts over 78 feet in the first quarter of 2017, up 8% from 2015.
